The Natal Originals Walnut/Maple Snare Drum features a high-quality walnut and maple shells, offering the singing warmth of the maple, combined with the dark tones and great low to mid response from the walnut. The shell is made of walnut middle and inner plies with maple outer plies. Walnut has a tighter grain than maple and produces fewer high frequencies, with a richness that while prominent, is not overstated. Maple is a softer wood compared to walnut, allowing for higher frequencies, offering warm, singing highs, whilst still having access to the deep, dark mid to low range. The Originals Snare Drum comes with an Evans Level 360 Snare Drum Head.
The Natal Originals Snare Drum features black nickel hardware, including high-mass plated sun lugs with Tru-Tune tension rods, offering reliable and consistent tuning throughout your performances or drumming session. With a hand-finished 45-degree bearing edge, the Natal Originals Snare Drum features a stunning green brown fade finish which will complement any studio or stage space.
Natal was originally conceived in 1958 by distinguished British percussionist Alan Sharp who, unable to find the exact instruments he wanted to play, sourced their individual parts and assembled them himself. Alan's new Afro-Cuban bongos were of such high quality that orders began to flood in, from his protégés and contemporaries alike, eventually leading to the foundation of the Natal Percussion Company in 1965. Natal enjoyed huge success, especially with its revolutionary fiberglass congas, which found favour with the likes of Santana, T. Rex, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple and the Rolling Stones.
