The Alvarez AP70E Electro Acoustic Guitar features a Parlor body, which is slightly smaller than an average sized guitar. The Parlor shape offers a balanced tone with a powerful projection, and also delivers a perfect mid-range tone. This type of body shape has recently had a resurgence with modern players, due to its versatility and compact size, making it a favourite with travelling musicians. Its compact size also accommodates fingerpicking players, as its nipped in waist means it can be held closer to the body.
Sitka spruce is a perfect choice for a guitar soundboard due to its combination of strength and elasticity, delivering a broad dynamic range with crisp articulation and powerful projection. With its stunning rosewood body, the AP70E delivers a a deep sound in the low end, with a bright top end. Its versatile properties and consistent tone make it a common choice for a guitar body, as it accommodates a variety of different playing styles including fingerpicking, strumming, and flatpicking.
The AP70E is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience, rarely found in an affordable instrument. One of these key components is the forward shifted bracing structure which features scalloped X braces and asymmetric tone bars. This inventive bracing allows for a thinner graduated top, allowing the soundboard to move more freely, providing warmth, clarity, and balance with dynamic midrange. In addition, by moving the system forward it provides a larger soundboard, which is optimised with a solid maple bridge plate for both strength and energy.
For added volume, the AP70E is also equipped with an LR Baggs StagePro Element and side-mounted EQ for bigger venues. This discrete EQ sidemount offers a built-in chromatic tuner, as well as a three band EQ with phase inversion and Garrett Null notch filter controls delivering a warm, pristine sound even under the most challenging conditions. Located on the upper bout, it is easy and convenient to use during any performance.
As well as offering a stunning choice of tonewoods for the perfect tone, the AP70E also features a real bone nut, which maintains its authentic appearance and offers excellent resonance and sustain. Another benefit of using a bone nut over modern materials is that a bone nut delivers a very balanced tone, and will last a long time. In addition, this type of nut naturally self lubricates and helps you stay in tune for longer, for the optimum performance.
Finally, the Alvarez AP70E is equipped with a set of D’Addario EXP strings, which are plain steel strings that feature hexagonal cores made of revolutionary NY High Carbon Steel. Manufactured in New York, these newly engineered, break-resistant, high-carbon strings deliver unprecedented strength and pitch stability, perfect for any style of playing
