Key Features
Product Ref: 105651
Eric John’s Signature Strat features a custom chambered alder body, which was developed to combine the tones of his favourite semi-hollow guitars and Stratocaster. This merging created an incredibly lightweight and resonant instrument, which accommodates Eric’s unique playing style. Alder has been Fender’s tonewood of choice since the 50s, offering a balanced response and slight upper middle definition many players appreciate. Its semi-hollow construction enhances the Strat’s natural resonance, creating a big sound with plenty of depth.
Another addition to this Signature Fender is its nitrocellulose lacquer finish, offering a thin, porous, and delicate coating which allows the tonewoods to breath with their natural tonal character and resonance. The lacquer is also known to wear and age in a certain way that appeals to many players.
The Fender Thinline Strat features a '57 soft ‘’V’’ neck profile, taking the pronounced sharpness of the classic ‘’V’’ profile found on models from the 50s and softening it up to create a more rounded shape. This profile delivers a distinct comfort for the fretting-hand, and is ideal for players with large hands whose thumb extends over the fingerboard’s edge. The maple tonewood provides the Fender with a beautifully bright characteristic, tightening up the overall tones and delivering plenty of cut and bite. Using maple for both the neck and fingerboard provides players with a sharp, clear punch when the strings are hit hard, while light to medium picking brings out the subtler tones of the maple.
A set of custom made single-coil Strat pickups, specially voiced to Eric Johnson’s specifications, provide the Thinline Strat with a truly iconic and unique sounds. Their bright, balanced tonal qualities offer plenty of warmth and output, ideal for creating smooth, clean progressions and crisp, crunchy lead licks. Each pickup features a unique structure and performance, built with alnico 3 magnets in the neck and middle pickups and an alnico 5 magnet in the bridge for an incredibly dynamic soundscape. All three pickups offer a beautifully balanced output, with the bridge offering a slightly hotter wind. These pickups are mounted to the alder body with countersunk screws, improving its transfer of vibrations for an enhanced sustain.
When many people think of an electric guitar, this is the one that leaps to mind. The Stratocaster is one of the world's most popular guitars and is an elegantly versatile creation. Not long after Fender revolutionised music with the Telecaster and the Precision Bass, in 1954 they debuted the Stratocaster and it quickly became universally regarded as the archetypal electric guitar. Sleek and stylish aesthetics, smooth playing and tonally versatile, at the heart the Stratocaster remains a fantastic instrument - producing unmistakable sound with a timeless design. A first choice among players worldwide, there is simply nothing that sings, screams, whispers, moans, roars, rocks and rolls like a Fender Stratocaster.
