Built-in Auteur preamps for professional sound
The Revolution 14x16 features two built-in Auteur preamps, offering transformer-driven warmth and versatility. These preamps are inspired by classic designs and provide two distinct sonic characteristics. At lower gain settings, they deliver a fast, detailed response ideal for percussion and rhythmic instruments. When pushed harder, they introduce the rich harmonic saturation often associated with vintage British preamps - perfect for vocals, bass, and melodic instruments.
Each preamp is transformer-coupled using high-quality Cinemag components, adding weight and depth to your recordings. You can access these preamps through the front or rear inputs on channels 1 and 2, giving you flexible routing options in your studio. Perfect for capturing dynamic performances or adding character to your mixes, the Auteur preamps ensure professional-quality sound straight out of the box.
Custom headphone mixes with Mix Edit
Monitoring is crucial in any recording session, and the Revolution 14x16 provides a powerful solution with its Mix Edit feature. This allows you to create tailored headphone mixes for each of the three built-in headphone outputs. You can balance direct input signals with playback from your DAW, ensuring performers hear exactly what they need while tracking.
Each headphone amp is designed for clarity and power, delivering clean audio without distortion. This means you and your collaborators can work comfortably without relying on external headphone amplifiers. If you need to isolate a vocal take or set up a specific cue mix, the Mix Edit function makes the process quick and easy, helping you stay focused on creativity.
Seamless integration with external hardware
The Revolution 14x16 is built for studios that rely on outboard gear. It includes four switchable send/return connections, allowing you to patch in compressors, EQs, or other external processors with ease. These connections let you A/B your processed and unprocessed signals at the press of a button, helping you make real-time adjustments without interrupting your workflow.
Additionally, the return connections double as extra line inputs, giving you more flexibility for integrating keyboards, synths, or other line-level sources. If needed, the Revolution 14x16 can even function as a standalone mic preamp without a computer, making it a versatile addition to any setup.
Expandability and rock-solid clocking
As your needs grow, the Revolution 14x16 grows with you. It features ADAT expandability, adding an extra eight channels of input and output when paired with an ADAT-compatible device. This makes it an ideal choice for larger recording sessions or integrating additional mic preamps.
Clocking is just as crucial as connectivity, and Black Lion Audio’s patented Macro-MMC clocking ensures precise digital synchronization. This technology reduces jitter and phase distortion, preserving the clarity of your transients and high frequencies. External devices connected via the BNC word clock input will benefit from this same precision, keeping your entire studio setup in perfect sync.
