Intuitive graphic control
The Playfair Audio Dynamic Grading revolutionizes the way you adjust compressors and expanders. Say goodbye to the traditional threshold and ratio knobs! With the intuitive graphical control, you can specify the relevant dynamic ranges in your source audio and precisely position them in the desired result. Thanks to dynamic histograms, finding the perfect sweet spots is a breeze. If the target range is narrower than the source range, Dynamic Grading automatically compresses that part of the dynamic range. Conversely, if the target range is wider, it expands effortlessly. It's simple, seamless, and a game-changer for audio enthusiasts like you.
Dynamics processing with ease
Dynamic Grading allows you to work independently with three fundamental dynamic regions. The body range is where the "meat" of the signal resides. It includes vocal timbre, sustained notes in instruments, and other important tonal elements. The punch range, located just above the body range, is home to transients, consonants, percussive elements, and note onsets. This range adds impact and definition to your audio. Finally, there's the floor range. Think of it as the "space between notes." It contains late decay of instrument notes, reverb, and background noise. Understanding these regions gives you precise control over your audio's dynamics.
Sound decisions
With Dynamic Grading, you have the power to finely control the depth perception of your audio by adjusting the punch range. Compressing the punch range provides smoother onsets and a sense of distance, perfect for creating a cohesive mix. On the other hand, expanding the punch range increases impact, allowing you to position a track front and centre. When it comes to the body range, compressing ensures that the most prominent features sit firmly in the mix, providing clarity and definition. If a track is overwhelming your mix bus, expanding the body range creates more space and prevents it from overpowering other elements. The floor range allows you to shape reverberation and background noise. Expanding the floor range helps reduce reverb or noise, providing a clean and polished recording. However, squeezing the floor range can lead to unique and fascinating artistic effects.
