The Intermediate Cello boasts a maple back and sides, with a spruce top. These traditional tonewoods are more typically found in top-of-the-line, professional models - and are known for delivering a rich, vintage sound. The body is carved by hand, in order to give every cello a special character and optimum tone. From there, the instrument is hand-brushed with an oil varnish, protecting the craftsmanship and giving your cello a gorgeous, natural finish.
Ebony fittings are another premium feature more commonly found on professional instruments. A robust and attractive material, ebony is highly resistant to the natural oils from your skin and provides a very comfortable playing experience. This cello features an ebony fingerboard, top nut, and tuning pegs.
Larsen Aurora strings
The Westbury Intermediate Cello comes professionally set-up with Larsen Aurora strings. Just like all Larsen string sets, Larsen Aurora strings offer an impressive response and playing characteristics. The combination of synthetic and steel cores alongside aluminium and silver windings have made these strings the new first choice for educators, students, and professional musicians alike.

To ensure you have the best possible experience, Westbury have included everything you'll need to get started. This outfit includes a quality bow - made with an octagonal bulletwood stick, an ebony frog, and unbleached, natural white horsehair. These traditional materials provide a rich tone and an effortless playing experience. Rosin is also included.
In order to keep your new cello and bow safe, this outfit includes a lightweight gig bag, offering strong protection thanks to the 11mm padding. On the outside of the bag, you will find three robust handles, a name tag, and backpack straps for easy transportation. On the back of the bag, there is a large, zipped pocket, perfect for sheet music. And the front features a bow pocket and smaller accessory pocket.
